About Kathy

I am a fully trained counsellor who is both registered and accredited by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I have worked with lots of different issues in a variety of settings. My style is interactive with a common sense approach. I think it is important to work in a collaborative and encouraging way one size does not fit all so I will work with you in a way that suits you.

I work with individuals and couples either short or long term depending on your needs are.
One off appointments are sometimes available
I work with lots of different issues but I do have a particular interest in working with bereavement or loss issues and in working with people with relationship difficulties or people facing a transition or change in their life. I also have a strong interest and experience in problems arising from pregnancy, birth and parenting, including the death of a baby or child, premature birth, infertility and miscarriages.
But whatever brings you to counselling I am happy to help.

I have also trained as a coach and worked in a variety of business settings so am happy to help you with work related issues.

Counselling Experience
In addition to my own private practice I currently see client through Cambridge Counselling Service.
Previously I have worked for the NHS at The Spinney GP practice in St Ives, the Rosie Unit of Addenbrookes Hospital, Centre 33 (young peoples counselling), University of Cambridge Counselling Service and for BLISS (charity supporting parents and families of babies born too soon too small too sick) and CRUSE (specialist bereavement service)

This has given me a wide and varied experience of working with all different types of people of all ages and with a wide range of issues.

Training and Qualifications
My core training is in individual psychology and Adlerian counselling. This is a practical, integrative and creative therapeutic approach which is co-operative, supportive and empathetic. I use a range of techniques which are tailored to suit the needs of each individual client.

In terms of qualifications I studied for over four years to gain the Advanced Certificate and then Diploma in the Theory and Practice of Individual Psychology and Adlerian Counselling awarded the Institute for Individual Psychology.

I am an accredited counsellor and psychotherapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I am on the UK Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP) Registered Independent (UKRCP Reg Ind)

I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Counselling and Psychotherapy and have completed many courses in addition to my core training including training in solution focused brief therapy, groupwork, Cruse bereavement training, and BLISS counselling training. Certificate in Couples Therapy.

I have also completed a Certificate and Diploma in Supervision with Cambridge Supervision Training (CST) a Certificate in Couples Counselling and a Certificated in Relational cOaching.
